Uniswap v4 to launch in Q3 following Ethereum’s Dencun upgrade

The Uniswap Foundation Announces Launch Date for Uniswap v4 on Ethereum

The Uniswap Foundation, the main supporter of the decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol Uniswap, has revealed that the highly anticipated v4 of the protocol will be launched after the upcoming Dencun upgrade on the Ethereum blockchain.

In their latest announcement, the foundation shared a detailed roadmap outlining their plan for the rollout of Uniswap v4. Currently, the project is in the “Code Freeze” phase, where the team is finalizing core code, conducting thorough testing, optimizing gas usage, enhancing security measures, and completing final touches on peripheral components.

Following this phase, the Uniswap Foundation will enlist the help of audit firms and hold a community audit contest to ensure the highest level of code scrutiny for v4. The team is confident that Uniswap v4 will be the most thoroughly audited code ever deployed on the Ethereum blockchain. Simultaneously, the decentralized exchange (DEX) will be deployed on the testnet while the team makes final adjustments.

The third and final phase will see the launch of Uniswap v4 on the Ethereum mainnet in the third quarter of 2024. However, the foundation has noted that this date is tentative and subject to change depending on the status of the upcoming Dencun upgrade on Ethereum.

Ethereum Network’s Dencun Upgrade Set to Launch on Mainnet in 2024

The highly anticipated Dencun upgrade for the Ethereum network is finally set to launch on the mainnet on March 13, 2024 at 13:55:35 UTC, according to Ethereum developers. This upgrade, which introduces several Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) including EIP-4844 for proto-danksharding, aims to reduce layer 2 transaction fees.

The Dencun upgrade has undergone thorough testing on three Ethereum testnets, with successful deployments on the Goerli and Sepolia testnets. The third and final phase of testing was completed on the Holesky testnet on Feb. 7, paving the way for the mainnet launch.

Despite a four-hour delay during the Goerli deployment, the Dencun upgrade has been deemed ready for the mainnet launch. This is a major milestone for the Ethereum community, as the network continues to pave the way for the future of web 3.0, with features such as decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).
