Do Kwon Convicted of Using False Passport
Do Kwon, the founder of Terraform Labs, has been convicted by a court in Montenegro of using a false passport and has been given a four-month jail sentence.
Kwon and his colleague, ex-Terraform Labs CFO Han Chong-joon, were both charged and given the same sentence. The Montenegro Basic Court noted that the amount of time spent in custody by the two men would be taken into consideration, as stated in a statement on their website.
Kwon was accused of trying to depart the nation with a counterfeit Costa Rican passport. He reportedly stated to a court in Montenegro that he was unaware the travel document he had was supposedly faked, instead attributing the fault to a business with a Chinese name.
Do Kwon Denies Allegations of Forging Passport
Do Kwon denies allegations of having forged a passport and instead attributes it to a “Chinese” agency, according to a report.
In a report from South Korean news source Segye Ilbo on June 17, Kwon informed the Montenegro Basic Court that he was given his allegedly fraudulent passports and other travel documents, such as a Costa Rican passport, by third-party organizations.
Kwon stated that, since he had been using his Costa Rican passport for a long time, he had no cause to question its legitimacy.
Kwon denied not only the forging of travel documentation, but also any claims of making financial donations to Milojko Spajić, the head of the Europe Now party and former Montenegro finance minister.
