Starknet moves closer to EVM compatibility with upcoming ‘Kakarot’ testnet

What is StarkNet?

StarkNet is a new Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible blockchain that is designed to be scalable, secure, and privacy-focused. It is powered by the StarkEx protocol, which is a zero-knowledge (ZK) proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus algorithm.

The StarkEx protocol is designed to provide a secure and efficient consensus mechanism for the network, while also providing a high level of privacy for users. The protocol is based on a combination of ZK-SNARKs and PoS, which allows for secure and efficient consensus without the need for a trusted party or third-party validator.

The StarkNet blockchain is also designed to be scalable, allowing for high transaction throughput and low transaction costs. This makes it an ideal platform for applications that require high transaction throughput and low costs.

What is the ZK-EVM?

The ZK-EVM is a new type of blockchain that is based on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It is designed to be more secure and private than traditional blockchains, as it uses zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs to ensure the validity of transactions. ZK-EVM is a combination of two technologies, Ethereum and zero-knowledge proofs, which provides the ability to securely and privately execute transactions on the blockchain. This technology is being developed by Starknet, a blockchain startup based in Israel.

The ZK-EVM is designed to provide enhanced security and privacy for users, as it uses zero-knowledge proofs to validate transactions. This means that only the sender and receiver of a transaction are able to view the details of the transaction, while the rest of the network is unable to view the details. This provides a layer of privacy and security that is not available on traditional blockchains.

Starknet is working to make the ZK-EVM compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) so that it can be used to develop and deploy decentralized applications (dApps). This will enable developers to build and deploy dApps on the ZK-EVM, while still being able to use the same tools and languages as they would on the EVM. This will make it easier for developers to build and deploy dApps on the ZK-EVM, as they will not need to learn a new language or toolset.

Starknet is currently working on a testnet called “Kakarot” that will be used to test the ZK-EVM’s compatibility with the EVM. This will help ensure that the ZK-EVM is compatible with the EVM before it is released to the public. Once the testnet is complete, Starknet will be able to move closer to releasing the ZK-EVM to the public.

What is Kakarot?

Kakarot is a testnet for the StarkNet blockchain. It is designed to test the features of the StarkEx protocol, such as scalability, security, and privacy. It is also used to test the compatibility of the StarkNet blockchain with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
