BigQuery Adds 11 New Blockchain Networks

Google Cloud’s BigQuery service has just added 11 new blockchain networks to its data warehouse, according to a Sept. 21 blog post. The networks include Avalanche, Arbitrum, Cronos, Ethereum’s Görli testnet, Fantom, Near, Optimism, Polkadot, Polygon’s mainnet, Polygon’s Mumbai testnet and Tron.

BigQuery is a data warehouse service used by enterprise firms to store and query their data. It also provides public data sets such as Google Trends, American Community Service demographic information, Google Analytics and more. In 2018, Google launched a Bitcoin data set on the service and later added Ethereum. In February 2019, it expanded its blockchain coverage to include Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Dogecoin, Ethereum Classic, Litecoin and Zcash. The Sept. 21 announcement brings the total number of blockchain networks covered by BigQuery to 19.

In addition to adding these new blockchains, Google has also implemented a new feature to make blockchain queries easier to execute. Through a series of user-defined functions, the team has provided methods to handle the long-form decimal results often found on blockchains. With this new feature, users will have access to longer decimal digits for their blockchain data and reduce rounding errors in computation.

On July 7, Google Cloud joined forces with Voltage, a Lightning Network infrastructure provider, to take a closer look at blockchain technology in 2023. Subsequently, on September 14, the tech giant partnered with Web3 startup Orderly Network to offer off-chain components for decentralized finance, such as components of web 3.0, crypto fantom, crypto blockchain, cronos crypto today, crypto cronos, clover finance crypto, crypto blog, crypto avalanche, arbitrum crypto and ai startup.
