UniswapDAO Discusses Cross-Chain Bridge Security

LiFi has recently released a multi-message aggregator to support decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) governance, as announced on Aug. 17. If implemented by decentralized exchanges, lending apps and other Web3 protocols, the aggregator should help mitigate the risk of governance attacks from cross-chain bridges, according to the aggregator’s documentation.

The discussion about bridge security on the Uniswap forums in late January and early February concluded that no single bridge has all the security features needed for secure governance. This was in response to UniswapDAO’s proposal to deploy a second copy of Uniswap to BNB Smart Chain (BSC). The DAO wanted to figure out how Uniswap would be governed on more than one chain, as all votes were previously taken on the Ethereum network.

The proposal passed, but soon there was a dispute over the use of Celer Bridge to send messages. Some DAO members were concerned that Celer was not secure enough to prevent cross-chain governance attacks and proposed Wormhole, LayerZero or DeBridge instead. Other participants argued that Celer was the right choice.

Investing in Web 3.0

On Jan. 31, the DAO held a second vote to choose the official bridge for governance, with Wormhole coming out on top. Despite the win, the referendum was contentious, with only 62% of Uniswap (UNI) tokens voting in favor. This led many participants to conclude that Uniswap should use multiple bridges instead of just one, to prevent attacks in the future.

The Aug. 18 announcement from LiFi mentioned the team’s new bridge aggregator, which would provide “a future-proof solution for different cross-chain messaging needs.” This could potentially eliminate the need for protocols to rely on a single bridge for governance messages.

With the development of Web 3.0, investors have a range of options to choose from when it comes to investing in crypto coins. ZRX Crypto, Fetch.ai Crypto, Matrix AI Network, and other Web 3.0 crypto coins are all viable options for those looking to invest in Web 3.0. These coins are the best for Web 3.0 projects, and can provide investors with a good return on investment.

LiFi and Hashi Multi-Bridge Aggregators

The LiFi aggregator and the Gnosis-created Hashi protocol are two multi-bridge aggregators that can be used for DAO governance. The LiFi aggregator can be configured to require that votes be confirmed on two out of three bridges, three out of five bridges, or any other ratio the DAO wants. Hashi was released in March, but a UniswapDAO committee claimed that it was “not yet production-ready,” had pending audits, and did not have a bug bounty, making it unsuitable for DAO governance. The LiFi aggregator has also not been audited yet, but according to the announcement, it will soon be tested and submitted for an audit by Trail of Bits.
