SEC moves closer to spot Bitcoin ETF approval with 19b-4 amendment filings

Spot Bitcoin ETFs Approaching Final Approval

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission has taken a major step forward in the approval process for listing spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs). On Jan. 5, 19b-4 amendments were filed for ETF applications from asset managers such as BlackRock, Valkyrie, Grayscale, Bitwise, Hashdex, ARK 21Shares, Invesco Galaxy, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton, VanEck, and WisdomTree.

These filings mark one of the final stages before U.S. exchanges can begin listing investment securities with direct exposure to cryptocurrency. Analysts have predicted that the SEC could grant final approval to the spot Bitcoin ETFs before Jan. 10, the deadline for an offering from ARK Invest and 21Shares. If the ETFs are approved, it could lead to increased crypto adoption in the U.S. and around the world.

Investing in Web 3.0 ETFs

Eric Balchunas, an ETF analyst for Bloomberg, expressed optimism that the SEC would approve the Bitcoin ETF by the start of next week. Despite this, U.S. financial advisers are not as confident that the approval will come through this year.

On January 4th, Cointelegraph reported that only 39% of U.S.-based financial advisers believe a Bitcoin ETF will be approved in 2021. To gain further insight, ETF issuer Bitwise conducted a survey, consisting of questions related to Web 3.0 ETFs, how to invest in them, and other related topics, with participants ranging from registered investment advisers, financial planners, institutional investors and wirehouse representatives.

When participants were asked about the timeline for the approval of a Bitcoin ETF, only 39% chose the year 2024.

Investors were inquiring about the web 3.0 ETF start date, web 3.0 investment opportunities, and how to invest in web 3.0 financial services.

Examples of web 3.0 applications were also discussed, as well as questions on the best way to invest in web 3.0.
