VanEck’s Ethereum ETF Donations
On September 29, Global asset manager VanEck announced that 10% of all profits from its upcoming Ether futures exchange-traded fund (ETF) would be donated to Ethereum core developers for ten years. The beneficiary of these donations is The Protocol Guild, a group of over 150 developers maintaining Ethereum’s core technology. VanEck believes it is only fair to return part of their proceeds to the community building the crypto protocol.
VanEck is not the only one contributing to the Ethereum network. Other crypto-native communities, such as Lido Finance, Uniswap, Arbitrum, Optimism, ENS Domains, MolochDAO, and Nouns DAO, are also providing support. According to a public dashboard tracking donations sent to the Guild’s mainnet, 4,846 contributions have generated over $12 million in donations. Funds are then distributed among its members according to a weighted ratio based on their contribution periods.
Investors interested in web 3.0 domains, AI generated anchor, or AI technology can consider investing in VanEck’s Ether ETF. Those looking to buy web 3.0 domains, invest in ENS web 3.0, or invest in DAO web 3.0 can also explore the ETF as an option.
Investing in Web 3.0
The Ethereum core developers are currently working on EIP-4844 (Proto-Danksharding), a new kind of transaction that could reduce fees for layer-2 protocols.
VanEck recently announced their Ethereum Strategy ETF (EFUT) and plans to invest in ether futures contracts. The fund will be actively managed by Greg Krenzer, head of active trading at VanEck, and is expected to be listed on the Chicago Board Options Exchange in the near future.
Other traditional investment firms offering exposure to Ether futures include Valkyrie and Bitwise, while the demand for a spot Ether ETF is increasing with Invesco Galaxy, ARK 21Shares, and VanEck all awaiting regulatory approval. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently delayed a decision on whether to approve a spot Ether product until December.
Investors interested in Web 3.0 domains can look to ENS, DAO, and other platforms for how to buy web 3.0 domains. With AI-generated anchor technology, investors can also explore the potential of investing in Web 3.0.
