Casa wallet launches Ethereum vault relay service for increased user privacy

Difference between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0

Cryptocurrency self-custody platform Casa has rolled out new functionality for its recently launched Ether (ETH) vaults, allowing users to transact via a relay for added privacy.

In June 2023, Casa added a multisignature Ethereum self-custody vault to its initial Bitcoin (BTC) custody offering, enabling users to manage their ETH holdings with up to five private keys to secure their assets.

To provide more transactional privacy to its ETH users, Casa has implemented a mechanism that allows them to use an ETH pay wallet as a relay to create and transact from their vault.

Casa informed Cointelegraph that it had previously assisted users with interactions between their ETH vaults and the Ethereum blockchain through its in-house Casa Relay.

Casa’s ETH Pay Wallet

Casa has developed an ETH pay wallet, a single-signature wallet that can be used as a relay to transact from a vault. This bridge allows users to undertake certain actions, such as deploying contracts and sending transactions, while covering gas costs. However, blockchain scanning tools can be used to view the Ethereum addresses associated with Casa.

Casa CEO Nick Neuman told Cointelegraph that transactions sent from an ETH pay wallet and gas fees won’t be linked to Casa on-chain. This feature provides customization for users and was in development prior to the launch of its ETH custody vault.

Neuman further clarified that the ETH pay wallet won’t provide anonymity, which is offered by obfuscation tools in the cryptocurrency space.

The Casa Relay does not require as many steps as the service in question, and users have to pay for the gas fees with their pay wallet for greater privacy, as it prevents their ETH addresses from being connected to Casa.
